Psychological treatment
At PuntP we have three types of psychological treatments:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
In this therapy you practice thinking and acting differently, so that you will feel better or more balanced. Often you don't think about what you think. Yet thoughts have a lot of influence on how you feel. In this treatment you take the time to become aware of your thoughts. You practice changing an automatic negative thought or expectation to a thought that fits better and helps you more. You will also investigate together with your therapist how you react in situations. Or which situation you avoid because you find it exciting, and what effect this has on how you feel. In steps you practice to change your behavior in the direction you want. You will also receive homework assignments.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
In this therapy you learn to accept your complaints (such as anxiety, sadness, tension or sadness). You learn not to fight against these emotions or to hide them. You will also learn how to let your symptoms influence your behavior less. We help you discover what you really find important and valuable. You convert this into goals. You practice in steps to achieve these goals. This way you can get positive experiences. Your complaints or setbacks then determine your life less. You will also receive homework assignments.
Short-term Psychodynamic Supportive Psychotherapy (KPSP)
This is a treatment for people who have long-term or recurring mood complaints. In therapy you discuss how you deal with your situation and with important people in your environment. What affects your symptoms and why do they persist? You will also explore with the therapist which difficult experiences or relationships with significant others from your past influence these patterns. This will help you understand how it works for you. You will also better recognize which thoughts are working against you, which emotions you have not processed and which negative expectations contribute to gloomy feelings. The goal is that you are less restricted by these thoughts, emotions and expectations.
At PuntP, we also offer Scheme Therapy and CBASP (Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy). If one of these treatments suits you, your practitioner will tell you more about it.
