Psychological complaints

At PuntP, we offer treatment for the following diagnoses.

Depression

With depression you often feel gloomy and you cannot enjoy nice things. You can be easily irritated, sleep badly, have less energy and have less or more appetite for food. It can be difficult to concentrate, you may have less desire for sex and be uncertain about yourself and the future. If your symptoms last longer than 2 weeks, we call it depression.

Bipolar disorder

With a bipolar disorder, periods of depressive symptoms alternate with periods in which you feel very good and energetic. You can also do things without thinking through. This is called mania or hypomania.

Generalized anxiety disorder

You feel anxious for a long time or you worry a lot about all kinds of things that you normally don't worry about. You worry about this so much that it is difficult to do your daily activities.

Panic disorder

With a panic disorder, you have had several panic attacks. You suddenly feel very scared and get physical complaints, such as breathing very fast (hyperventilation). Because of this fear, you no longer dare to do normal activities.

Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia is another word for street phobia. This is often accompanied by a panic disorder. You are scared to go outside or go to places where many people gather.

Social anxiety

Social anxiety makes you feel very tense when engaging in activities with other people, especially when the focus is on you. As a result, you cannot do the things you actually want to do.

Compulsive disorder

If you suffer from obsessive-compulsive thoughts and compulsions, it may be obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This takes a lot of time and creates a lot of tension. An example is fear of contamination: you are very afraid of dirt or getting, or passing on a contagious disease. You keep thinking about the dirt or contamination, and spend a lot of time cleaning and washing your hands. It is not possible to stop these thoughts and this behavior.

Hypochondria

You are afraid of having a serious illness and you find it difficult to be reassured about this. You often check your own body or visit the doctor often.

What is a diagnosis?

After the first interview, the intake, we make a diagnosis. A diagnosis is personal and goes beyond just the description of the complaints listed on this page. A diagnosis states how your symptoms arose in your situation.

In addition to your anxiety or mood disorder, you may also have other psychological problems. If possible, we adjust the treatment accordingly. Or we will refer you to a place where you can get the treatment that suits you.

Anxiety and mood complaints can also be caused by other problems, such as financiel issues, unemployment or housing problems. We do not have appropriate treatment or support for this, but we will try to refer you or give you advice.
